The San Jose Sharks have already made it clear that they are open to adding to their roster this season, as they acquired forward Kiefer Sherwood from the Vancouver Canucks last month.
However, when looking at the Sharks' current roster, it is fair to wonder that they might not be done yet. With the Sharks still in the playoff race, they should be open to adding to their blueline as well.
The Sharks should be aiming to improve the right side of their blueline, and the Boston Bruins have an interesting potential option in defenseman Andrew Peeke.
Peeke has been creating chatter as a trade candidate this season, even with the Bruins currently holding a playoff spot. With this, the Sharks should not be afraid to kick tires on the pending unrestricted free agent (UFA).
If the Sharks landed Peeke, they would be bringing in a steady shutdown defenseman for their right side. The Florida native would give the Sharks another potential option for their second pairing and penalty kill if acquired. Yet, even if he played on the Sharks' third pairing, he would still give their current defensive group a real upgrade.
At 27 years old, Peeke is also young enough that he could be a long-term fit on the Sharks if the Pacific Division club extended him. With all of this, Peeke could be a decent pickup for a Sharks club that needs defensive help.
