The San Jose Sharks announced that they have signed Russian netminder Georgy Romanov to a two-year entry-level contract.
"Georgi has size, moves very well around the crease, and is athletic," general manager Mike Grier said. "We feel like he has a good package to be successful."
News of this signing was first reported by Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now.
Romanov is 23 and is listed as 6'5 on elite prospects. In 31 games in the VHL, Russia's second-highest level of professional hockey, Romanov had an 8-13-5 record with a .907 Save % for Gornyak-UGMK.
Per SJHN, Romanov will be at San Jose Sharks development camp, which will be held sometime in early July.
