San Jose Sharks goalie of the future Yaroslav Askarov suffered a lower-body injury in his start for the San Jose Barracuda on Wednesday.

Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now confirmed that  Askarov left the game with a lower-body injury. The exact injury is unclear; reports say he is still being evaluated.

After a long stint in the NHL during Vitek Vanecek's absence, the young netminder has struggled in the AHL. In February, Askarov had a .852 save percentage in his five post-All-Star Game appearances and was 1-4.

When Askarov was recalled in December, he was among the league leaders in save percentage. However, after a terrific start to the season, the Barracuda have not been as good overall.

The 'Cuda have eight wins in their last 20 games. While that isn't awful, they've been unable to string together extended win streaks.

Askarov is still having a standout AHL season, with a 10-7-2 record, a .922 save percentage, and a 2.52 GAA.
