The San Jose Sharks get a much-needed day off after a six-game road trip ended last night.
A lot has happened since they left for Boston on Nov. 29. Tomas Hertl scored and scored a lot. His numbers from the last week were good enough to be named the NHL's second star of the week.
Sharks head coach David Quinn provided updates on players who are missing or who have picked up an injury.
Duclair left last night's game against the Vegas Golden Knights after taking a hit up high off of the opening second-period faceoff.
Quinn did not provide an update after the game. We will likely get an update tomorrow.
Eklund was a super late scratch last night. The Sharks announced that he is dealing with a lower-body injury. Eklund did participate in warmups.
"We're hoping that Eklund's situation will be short-term," Quinn said postgame.
Vlasic did not play yesterday due to personal reasons, the team announced. Out of respect for Vlasic, the team did not give any updates on what is going on.
"Not sure about Vlasic, how long he'll be out," Quinn said postgame.
Quinn mentioned Bailey's name during postgame, which came as a surprise. He was able to finish the game.
"Bailey for an extended period and a half almost, [but] he came back with about three minutes to go," Quinn said.
When looking at Bailey's TOI chart, he missed about 14 minutes of the third period. His first shift ended with 18:01 remaining in the frame. His next shift didn't start until there was 4:08 remaining.
Quinn did not say what injury he was dealing with.
Although he didn't play last night, Kunin has been skating with the team at the end of morning skates. Quinn said he is "very close" to returning to the lineup.
Benning has not played for the San Jose Sharks in the last three games. Quinn said he is dealing with the same injury that landed him on IR for almost all of November.
Quinn deemed the defenseman week-to-week. Despite that timeline, the Sharks have not placed him on IR.
