The Sharks' decision to take a chance on veteran blueliner John Klingberg is paying off.

During the 2025 NHL off-season, the San Jose Sharks signed defenseman John Klingberg to a one-year, $4 million contract. This was after the veteran blueliner posted one goal and four points in 11 games this past season with the Edmonton Oilers. He also played in 19 playoff games for the Oilers, where he posted one goal and four points.

The Sharks' decision to sign Klingberg to this one-year contract is undoubtedly looking like a good one.

In 24 games with the Sharks so far this season, Klingberg has recorded seven goals, seven assists, and 14 points. With numbers like these, 2010 fifth-round pick is providing the Sharks with some solid offense from the point.

Yet, what's important to note is that Klingberg is now in the middle of a major hot streak with the Sharks. He is currently on a four-game point streak, where he has recorded four goals and seven points over that span. This included him scoring two goals, including the overtime winner, in San Jose's big comeback win against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Dec. 13.

With all of this, Klingberg is certainly proving to be a nice pickup for the Sharks. It will be interesting to see if he can stay hot from here.
