    Henry Thrun scored twice as the San Jose Sharks beat the Vegas Golden Knights 5-2.

    Henry Thrun scored twice as the San Jose Sharks beat the Vegas Golden Knights 5-2 Sunday night.

    Thrun and Tomas Hertl had three points. Defenseman Kyle Burroughs had a goal and an assist as well. Kaapo Kahkonen had 32 saves.

    Brett Howden and Ivan Barbashev scored for Vegas. Jiri Patera started and made 13 saves. Jesper Vikman replaced Patera for the third period and made three saves.

    Thrun started the scoring early after his shot from the point found the net 24 seconds into the first period. 

    Thrun added his second goal at the end of the first period.

    "He's had a very good camp," Sharks head coach David Quinn said about Thrun. "He's done a really good job this summer working on the things we touched on that he needs to get better at."

    Thrun displayed patience at the point all night long. He got the primary assist on Hertl's goal. He got Hertl the puck with a sweet fake slapshot pass.

    "I really like his game. He's got a lot of confidence," Hertl said about Thrun. "He's a really good skater. He's got some skill, and I think he's had a really good camp. I'm really happy for him."

    Nathan Todd found a puck in front of the Vegas goal and buried it up high for his first preseason goal.

    "Todd works hard. He listens," Quinn said. "[Cole] Cassels did a good job tonight. There were a lot of good things that happened tonight. A lot of guys contributed in their own way."

    Burroughs would score his first preseason goal after Alexander Barabanov evaded a defender and fed Burroughs the puck.

    Mike Hoffman, Cole Cassels, and Danil Gushchin registered an assist for the San Jose Sharks.

    San Jose has an off day tomorrow, but some guys are expected to be released from training camp.

    Golden Knights: Visit the Colorado Avalanche tomorrow.

    LINEUP NOTES:

    Sharks defenseman Matt Benning was expected to suit up, but Gannon Laroque took his place. 

    Quinn said that Benning is "fine" and would play if this were a regular season game.
