Macklin Celebrini's sophomore season to remember with the San Jose Sharks continues to bring him a considerable amount of accolades. On Sunday, he was named the third best center in the NHL by NHL Network, improving from 19th place last summer.
After his record-breaking 115-point season, Celebrini trails just the Edmonton Oilers' Connor McDavid and the Colorado Avalanche's Nathan MacKinnon in the rankings. As a result, Celebrini jumped players like Aleksander Barkov, Sidney Crosby, and Auston Matthews in NHL Network's annual list.
Moving up any further will be difficult for Celebrini, to say the least. McDavid and MacKinnon have Harts, Rocket Richard and Art Ross Trophies under their belt, while Celebrini is still looking for first his piece of major hardware in the NHL. Regardless, Celebrini is quickly establishing himself as a face of the new generation alongside Matthew Schaefer of the New York Islanders and potentially Connor Bedard of the Chicago Blackhawks, who moved to 16th place in the same list.
As expected, Celebrini was the only member of the San Jose Sharks to crack the top-20 center list.
