San Jose Sharks prospects Will Smith and Eric Pohlkamp will play for Team USA at the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship.
Smith was drafted No. 4 overall in the 2023 NHL Draft by the Sharks. He has been on an offensive tear at Boston College. Smith has eight goals and 15 assists in 17 games this season.
Smith has been centering BC's "freshman line" with New York Rangers prospect Gabe Perreault and Washington Capitals prospect Ryan Leonard.
The Sharks drafted Pohlkamp in the fifth round of the 2023 NHL draft. His stout defensive ability and smooth skating make him an attractive depth defenseman for Team USA.
The rugged defenseman plays for Bemidji State University in the NCAA. In 16 games, Pohlkamp has four goals and five assists.
The defenseman could be used as a triggerman on the powerplay as he possesses a terrific one-time shot.
Smith and Pohlkamp will be a part of the Sharks' future, and this tournament will give fans a glimpse into what they can see.
