The San Jose Sharks’ bottom-six will likely be getting some help in the very near future.
Prior to Monday’s game against the St. Louis Blues, Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky shared that Ty Dellandrea has been upgraded to day-to-day, meaning there’s a chance we’ll see him return at some point during the current homestand.
Dellandrea has been out of action since early January, with his last appearance coming against the Columbus Blue Jackets on January 6. The 25-year-old forward has appeared in 42 games for the Sharks this season, scoring two goals and nine assists during that time.
When Dellandrea is ready to go, it’ll be interesting to see how Warsofsky opts to fit him into the lineup. Philipp Kurashev and Pavol Regenda have both been healthy scratched as it is. Given Warsofsky’s tendency to keep Barclay Goodrow in the lineup, Zack Ostapchuk or Adam Gaudette will be the most likely to sit for Dellandrea when the time comes.
While having Dellandrea back will certainly lead to some interesting decisions for the coaching staff, a healthy roster is a good problem to have at this stage of the season.
