Vancouver Canucks forward Nils Hoglander was ejected from the game against the San Jose Sharks.

Vancouver Canucks forward Nils Hoglander was ejected from the game against the San Jose Sharks on Monday night.

At 18:31 of the second period, Hoglander was in a board battle against Sharks forward Kevin Labanc. Hoglander then proceeded to slewfoot the Sharks forward. Labanc was Shaken up and did not take a shift for the remainder of the period.

After a discussion and review, the Canucks forward was assessed a match penalty and a five-minute major for intent to injure.

The NHL Department of Player Safety will have a look at this play, and Hoglander should be getting a fine and/or a suspension.

The Sharks gave up a shorthanded goal with 0.7 left in the second period on that penalty.
