Vancouver Canucks forward Nils Hoglander was ejected from the game against the San Jose Sharks on Monday night.
At 18:31 of the second period, Hoglander was in a board battle against Sharks forward Kevin Labanc. Hoglander then proceeded to slewfoot the Sharks forward. Labanc was Shaken up and did not take a shift for the remainder of the period.
After a discussion and review, the Canucks forward was assessed a match penalty and a five-minute major for intent to injure.
The NHL Department of Player Safety will have a look at this play, and Hoglander should be getting a fine and/or a suspension.
The Sharks gave up a shorthanded goal with 0.7 left in the second period on that penalty.
