Ryan Carpenter scored for the Sharks, and Mackenzie Blackwood made 24 saves. San Jose took head coach David Quinn's instructions to shoot the puck and then some. They outshot Chicago 38-25.
Cole Guttman, a California native, scored his fourth goal of the season, and Petr Mrazek made 37 saves.
