Captain Logan Couture won't accompany the team as the San Jose Sharks head on a five-game road trip.

Although Couture has been skating this week, he has yet to rejoin full practice. San Jose's next home game is Nov. 2 against the Vancouver Canucks, which gives Couture 13 days to ramp up his rehab.

After the Sharks lost to the Boston Bruins last night, head coach David Quinn told the media that Couture wouldn't accompany the team on the trip. He did confirm that Mikael Granlund would join the group.

"It will surely be nice to get Granlund back and Couture at some point because they'll that'll make a big difference for us," Quinn said postgame. "In essence, when you lose those two guys, you lose six players. You lose those two guys, and they're going to certainly elevate the play of their two wingers."

Granlund was the team's first powerplay quarterback during the first game. Since he re-aggravated his injury, Mike Hoffman has taken that role, and it hasn't been successful.

The return of Granlund and Couture will help take pressure off of Thomas Bordeleau to be the second-line center. Although he hasn't looked bad, pushing him to the 3C could create better matchups for offensive success.

Although Quinn did not put a timetable on either player's return, Granlund will likely get into at least one game on the road trip.
