Alexander Barabanov is one of the many pending UFAs on the San Jose Sharks getting thrown around in trade rumors.
The Fourth Period has updated its Top 30 Trade Watch List, and while Barabanov still sits at No. 8, a new team, the Tampa Bay Lightning, has been linked as an interest.
Barabanov was already linked to the Edmonton Oilers, Colorado Avalanche, and Florida Panthers.
The Lightning could be interested in the playmaking winger due to his $2.5 million cap hit. With Mikhail Sergachev out for the foreseeable future, the Lightning now have more cap space.
CapFriendly projects Tampa Bay to have $7.55 million in cap space at the trade deadline.
Former Sharks forward Mikey Eyssimont was traded from San Jose to the Lightning last season. Barabanov and Eyssimont could team up again, as they were both on a line with Logan Couture at one point last season.
Barabanov is having a down season with nine points in 32 games. He hasn't found the offensive form he showed when first acquired from the Toronto Maple Leafs during the 2021 season.
Injuries have plagued his season, but now healthy, Barabanov's offense is still missing. He hasn't scored a goal since January 4th and has two assists since that game.
He must start producing if the Sharks want to get value for a return from an Alexander Barabanov trade. Without Tomas Hertl and Couture, Barabanov could be looked at as a way to help the Sharks generate offense during their absences.
