The Fourth Period has added another San Jose Sharks forward to its trade watch list, the captain, Logan Couture.
Couture joins Anthony Duclair, Alexander Barabanov, Mike Hoffman, and Kaapo Kahkonen on this list. Couture is ranked behind Duclair and Barabanov at 16 but is ahead of the other two.
"The Sharks are willing to listen on their captain, as TFP's David Pagnotta first reported and confirmed on NHL Network on Feb. 15. He has three more years on his contract and is willing to expand the list of teams on his trade list. However, Couture is injured and it could jeopardize his season. If that's the case, expect talks to pick up in the off-season," The Fourth Period writes.
Couture was just moved to IR so the Sharks could activate Henry Thrun. While it sounds like his injury isn't as severe this time around, there is still no timetable for him getting back on the ice.
The teams reportedly interested in acquiring Couture are the Buffalo Sabres, Nashville Predators, and Ottawa Senators.
The captain has only appeared in six games this season and has just one assist. Despite the lack of offense, there was a clear boost to the Sharks' play when Couture was in the lineup.
Rumors will continue to fly leading up to the March 8th deadline.
