Heading into the 2026-27 season, Macklin Celebrini already sits 20th all-time for most career points by a member of the San Jose Sharks. He's surpassed players like Pat Falloon, Evander Kane, and William Eklund, now he's chasing down Milan Michalek, Kevin Labanc, and even Erik Karlsson as he enters the third season of his career.
As things current stand, Celebrini has 178 career points in 152 career games. Assuming he continues putting up points at the same rate and plays the entire 84 game season during the 2026-27 campaign, he'd have 276 points when the regular season comes to a close. In that scenario, he'd have the 13th most points in franchise history. Now, who would he have to pass to reach that point?
First, Celebrini is currently chasing down Michalek for 19th, as he had 214 points during his time in San Jose. After that, he'd be looking to surpass Labanc's 225 points, which shouldn't take long after he gets past Michalek. After passing Labanc, Celebrini would have quite a bit of work to catch the next player on the list. Erik Karlsson is currently sitting 17th with 243 career points.
The next four players on Celebrini's list, Mike Ricci, Dan Boyle, Ryane Clowe, and Marco Sturm, would all be passed in quick succession, as they're all separated by just a total of 10 points. At that point, Celebrini would have reached 13th on the leaderboard. Vincent Damphousse would be his next target, as the Montreal native registered a total of 289 points during his time in teal. That would be slightly out of reach of Celebrini's current point-per-game pace, but if he takes another major step forward this season, it is certainly doable.
Jonathan Cheechoo sits in 11th with just two more points than Damphousse, but that's almost certainly the highest that Celebrini would be able to get during the 2026-27 season. As 10th place belongs to Timo Meier, who had 316 points before he was traded to the New Jersey Devils.
If he has a similar assist total to last season, Celebrini could also see himself move into the top-15 for all-time assists by a Shark and once he surpasses 100 career goals, he'll start being tracked on the all-time goal record list as well.
Celebrini isn't wasting any time rewriting the Sharks' record book, and he's almost certainly going to do quite a bit more of that this season.
