Seattle Kraken's Matty Beniers, Michael Eyssimont and Joey Daccord helped Team USA secure their first gold medal at the IIHF Men's World Championship in 92 years.

Team USA defeated Switzerland 1-0 in overtime, with Buffalo Sabres star forward Tage Thompson scoring the golden goal. Team USA was the youngest team in the tournament, and after iffy moments in the preliminary rounds, they turned up their level in the knockout rounds en route to winning gold. In the final, they outshot Switzerland 40-25.

It was a strong tournament for Beniers, scoring three goals and six points in 10 games, vastly improving on his previous performance. Eyssimont added a goal and three points in eight games, proving to be a valuable piece in their bottom six. Daccord played three games, recording a .919 SP and a 2.00 GAA.

Adam Larsson scored a goal and four points in 10 games, picking up his second medal at this event. His play will likely get him some recognition when Sweden selects their Olympic roster next season, although Sweden's blue line is filled with top NHL talent.

Oscar Fisker Molgaard and Team Denmark finished the 2025 World Championship with their highest placing ever, losing the bronze medal game to Team Sweden. It was a great tournament for the 20-year-old, scoring a goal and seven points in 10 games. Throughout the tournament, Fisker Molgaard was praised for his play, both by his opponents and coaches. He'll head into his first season with the Coachella Valley Firebirds with a lot of confidence next year.

The 2025 World Championship was marked by high-quality games and, of course, upsets. Denmark's quarter-final defeat over Canada headlined the upsets in the tournament. The Kraken's representatives can use this tournament as a tool to head into the 2025-26 campaign with more confidence.
