Seattle Kraken defenseman Brandon Montour is leading the way for Team Canada's World Championship roster as they near the end of the group stage.
Through five games, the 31-year-old has scored two goals and nine points, tied for second among Canadian players. Leading the way for Canada is Nathan MacKinnon with 10 points, followed closely behind by Sidney Crosby and Brandon Montour.
Canada has a perfect record through five games, outscoring their opponents 28-2. They have two games remaining in the group stage, against France on Monday and Sweden on Tuesday. Canada's matchup against Sweden will likely be the game which settles who finishes first in Group A.
Montour has been a catalyst on the backend, outscoring the next closest defenseman on Team Canada by six points. The Ohsweken, ON native, has shown great chemistry with Canada's top players, particularly Crosby. He's quarterbacked the top unit, and he's a major reason why Canada's power play has been so efficient.
Canada has high hopes of winning the World Championship, and Montour will play a big role if they succeed.
