Seattle bolsters its roster by adding one of the tallest players in NHL history, bringing a massive physical presence and gritty defensive edge to the Kraken lineup.

The Kraken announced yesterday that they have signed forward Curtis Douglas to a two-year, $1.25 million AAV contract.

Speaking on the acquisition, Kraken GM Jason Botterill is excited for the "size and strong physical presence" Douglas brings, adding that he "is difficult to play against."  Douglas made his NHL debut with the Tampa Bay Lightning on October 5, 2025.  In his time in Tampa Bay, he led the team in penalty minutes.

Douglas finished the 2025-26 season with the Vancouver Canucks, who claimed him off waivers on March 6. In 14 games with Vancouver he posted 1 goal and 1 assist. Known for his size more than his scoring prowess, Douglas stands 6'9" and 243 pounds; he is one of the tallest players in NHL history.
