Seattle Kraken defenseman Brandon Montour has received an invite to Canada's Olympic Orientation Camp. The camp will take place in Calgary, scheduled for Aug. 26-28 and will feature 42 of the best Canadian players in the world.
Montour was left off of Canada's 4 Nations Face-Off roster but was considered in contention for one of the spots. The Olympics will likely see changes to the roster, due to performances and injuries, which opens up the possibility for Montour to work his way onto the roster.
The 31-year-old completed his first season with the Kraken, scoring a career-high 18 goals, while adding 23 assists for 41 points in 81 games. Montour elected to join Canada's World Championship roster, and although the team failed to win gold and were upset by Denmark, Montour had a strong tournament, scoring two goals and nine points in seven games, leading the way for Canadian defensemen.
At the Olympics, each team will carry 25 players on their roster, with the traditional breakdown usually consisting of 14 forwards, eight defensemen and three goaltenders, making it quite difficult to crack the roster.
Montour will have the opportunity to showcase himself throughout the 2025-26 season, leading the Kraken blue line alongside Vince Dunn, Adam Larsson, Ryker Evans and Ryan Lindgren.
