Seattle Kraken forward Kaapo Kakko skated as Team Finland's 13th forward at their first full practice ahead of the 4 Nations Face-Off.

Kakko has had considerable success on the international stage. He became the youngest player ever to win gold at the U-18s, World Juniors, and World Championships, and he played a crucial role on each team.

When he joined the New York Rangers after being selected second overall in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, things didn't go his way, and he was traded to the Kraken on Dec. 18, 2024.

Since his arrival in Seattle, Kakko has played at the level many thought he would. He's scored five goals and 17 points in 24 games and earned the nod to play for Finland at the 4 Nations Face-Off.

Despite his excellent play, Finland has elected to dress Joel Armia for the first game of the tournament against the USA. Armia is more experienced and will be playing in front of his home fans, the Montreal Canadiens, but he doesn't offer the same offensive abilities that Kakko does.

As the tournament progresses, Kakko could get an opportunity to get into the lineup. Whether Finland deals with injuries or are looking for a different element, Kakko will likely find his way into the lineup.
