Seattle Kraken goaltender Ales Stezka has signed a three-year contract with HC Kometa Brno in his home country of Czechia.

The 28-year-old spent the previous two seasons playing for the Coachella Valley Firebirds in the AHL, posting a .906 SP and a 2.77 GAA in 53 games. Stezka served mostly as the backup netminder with the Firebirds, participating in zero postseason games.

Despite that, Stezka was generally the first goaltender the Kraken would recall when they needed a goaltender to serve as a backup netminder. He played just one game in the NHL, recording a .870 SP and a 3.09 GAA in a losing effort.

Stezka was set to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, free to sign with any team. With little NHL experience and likely a desire to move out of the AHL, Stezka's decision isn't surprising. Returning to his native country is also an expected decision for a goaltender who has had success in playing in the Czech professional league before.
