Seattle loses top scorer Jared McCann to a devastating lower-body injury. The forward’s ten-week absence forces a surging roster to bridge a massive offensive gap until January.
The Seattle Kraken have some bad news to deal with.
Jared McCann will miss the next 10 weeks with a lower-body injury and is not expected back until early January. Losing one of their top forwards for that long is a tough break for Seattle, especially with the team off to a strong start this season.
McCann has been a big part of the Kraken’s offense, and his absence will leave a hole in the lineup. He has three goals and eight points through 11 games this season, along with a plus-5 rating.
He was also one of Seattle’s main scorers last season, putting up 20 goals and 40 points in 52 games. The Kraken will need other players to step up while he’s out, but replacing his offense won’t be easy.
McCann spent three seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins before joining Seattle. From 2018-19 to 2020-21, he played 141 games for Pittsburgh, scoring 39 goals and adding 45 assists for 84 points.
Now, the Kraken will have to find a way to keep winning without him. With McCann expected to miss a big part of the season, the rest of the team will need to do its part until he’s ready to return.
