Mackie Samoskevich scored twice in his Climate Pledge Arena debut as the Kraken rolled past the Flames 6-1 for their second straight win over Calgary.

Mackie Samoskevich didn't have to wait long to make his mark in Seattle.

Playing in his first game at Climate Pledge Arena, Samoskevich scored twice as the Kraken rolled past the Calgary Flames 6-1 on Sunday.

It was the kind of night Seattle wanted in its home opener. The Kraken came out fast, built a big lead early and never gave Calgary much of a chance to get back into the game.

Seattle is now 2-1 to start the season and has beaten Calgary by the same 6-1 score in each of its first two meetings this year. The Kraken also beat the Flames twice during the preseason.

The newcomers played a big part in Sunday's win.

Berkly Catton opened the scoring less than three minutes into the game. The 20-year-old picked up a loose puck after Kaapo Kakko's pass failed to reach Shane Wright and finished the play himself to make it 1-0.

Samoskevich made it 2-0 less than two minutes later.

It was his first game of the season after missing the opener with an upper-body injury. He started the night on the fourth line but moved up alongside Matty Beniers and Jared McCann.

Bobby McMann then added another goal to put Seattle up 3-0.

Calgary had few answers for Seattle's speed, and the Kraken kept coming.

Wright made it 4-0 midway through the second period with a quick backhand shot after taking a pass from Catton. It was a smooth finish and another sign of the young talent Seattle is counting on.

Samoskevich scored again later in the game, with Beniers picking up the primary assist. The three young forwards have been living together this season, making the goal a little more fun for the group.

Calgary finally got on the board late in the third, ending Joey Daccord's shutout bid for the second straight game.

Seattle answered 39 seconds later when Jordan Eberle restored the five-goal lead.

Daccord finished with 32 saves.

The Kraken now have two strong wins over Calgary to start the season, with their only loss coming Saturday against Edmonton.

Seattle will take the momentum into the next part of its schedule, with the team's new additions already starting to make an impact.
