Seattle Kraken defensemen Ryker Evans and Brandon Montour have been named to Team Canada's World Championship roster.

Hockey Canada released the names of the first 15 players named to their roster, two of which patrol the Kraken's blue line together.

Evans has never represented Canada on the international stage throughout his junior and professional career. His breakout season, where he scored five goals and 25 points, has earned him a spot on Team Canada, next to Travis Sanheim, MacKenzie Weegar and Noah Dobson, all of whom are hoping to compete for a roster spot on Canada's 2026 Olympic Team.

Montour is also competing for one of those spots and it's why he's accepted an invitation to join Team Canada. The 2024-25 campaign saw him set a career-high in goals with 18.

The 31-year-old has represented Canada at the World Championship just once, recording no points in just three games. His role was small, but as the oldest defenseman named to the preliminary squad, his role is expected to be quite large.

On the offensive side, Team Canada is highlighted by rookie sensation Macklin Celebrini, Adam Fantilli, Bo Horvat, Travis Konecny and Ryan O'Reilly.

Canada has won two of the previous four tournaments, and are looking to reclaim gold after finishing fourth in 2024.
