Team Germany and Team Denmark have played their quarterfinal qualification games, with Seattle Kraken’s Philipp Grubauer advancing with Germany and Oscar Fisker Molgaard sent packing with Denmark.
Germany faced France and won fairly comfortably. Grubauer saw France throw 31 shots at him, turning away all but one. Through three games, Grubauer has posted a .934 save percentage and a 2.03 goals-against average.
Germany is now set to face Slovakia in the quarterfinals following their 5-1 win. On paper, the two teams are evenly matched, but Germany has the star power advantage with Leon Draisaitl, Moritz Seider, Tim Stutzle, and J.J. Peterka.
Unfortunately for the Danes, their tournament has come to an end following their 3-2 defeat to Czechia. The Danes fought hard, pushing for the equalizer late in the third period, but came up short.
Fisker Molgaard picked up a power play assist on Denmark’s second goal of the game, when the Danes trailed 3-1. The 20-year-old ends his first Olympic Games with one goal and three points in four games.
