Seattle, Wa- Coming in just under the wire, the Kraken have announced that prospect Kaden Hammell has signed a three-year, two-way entry level contract ($908,333 AAV) as of June 1st, 2025.  The 20-year-old defenseman was drafted in the fifth round of the 2023 NHL draft and has spent the two years since in the WHL with the Everett Silvertips.

Speaking on the signing, General Manager Jason Botterill emphasized that Hammell “was a leader on the Silvertips and elevated his game in the playoffs.  We’re excited to have him under contract for the next three years.”

In the 2024-25 season, Hammell appeared in 59 regular-season games where he earned a career-high 38 points (10 goals, 28 assists) and finished the season +45. In the playoffs he added 13 points in 13 games before The Silvertips were eliminated by the Portland Winterhawks.  Hammell played a critical role in the team’s success throughout the season as both a leader and a solid defensive presence.

With one year of eligibility in the WHL remaining, it is likely Hammell will return to Everett for the 2025-26 season while he continues to develop and hone his game.
