Seattle Kraken prospects Berkly Catton, Carson Rehkopf and Caden Price have been invited to Team Canada's 2025 World Junior Selection Camp.
The IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship will be held in Ottawa from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5. Many analysts believe Rehkopf and Catton are locks to be on the roster, but Price must earn his spot during the tryouts.
No roster predications had featured Price, especially the ones made before the start of the season but due to Price's phenomenal start, he's earned the opportunity to push for a spot. The 19-year-old has six goals and 31 points in 23 games in the WHL, on pace for 17 goals and 90 points in 67 contests.
Listed at 6'1, 190 lbs, the Kraken's 2023 third-round pick is a great rush defender who moves the puck efficiently. His offensive surge is an added bonus to his already good all-around game.
Rehkopf played for Team Canada last year during their disappointing tournament. Canada lost in the quarter-finals but that wasn't before Rehkopf could make a lasting impression. He used his size and skill to be a difference-maker, finishing the tournament with two goals and four points in five games. During the World Junior Summer Showcase, Rehkopf spoke about wanting to be a leader for Canada and has been proving that he is ready for that role during the 2024-25 OHL season.
He and teammate Porter Martone have been dominant with Rehkopf recording 18 goals and 41 points in just 24 games.
Catton, the Kraken's eighth overall pick in the most recent NHL draft is an ultra-talented centre who's represented Canada at every international tournament. He captained Canada to Gold at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup and won bronze at the U-18's.
If everything goes accordingly, the 18-year-old will be a key figure up front for Canada, playing on the power play and holding a lot of offensive responsibility.
