Julius Miettinen, the Seattle Kraken’s 40th overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, delivered a stellar 2024–2025 season with the Everett Silvertips, emerging as one of the WHL’s top young talents. The 6-foot-3, 207-pound center from Helsinki, Finland, demonstrated impressive offensive ability and two-way maturity, cementing his status as a key piece of Seattle’s future.

In his first season in the WHL, Miettinen led all U.S. Division players with 67 points (31 goals, 36 assists) in 66 games, placing third among all WHL rookies. His consistent production earned him U.S. Division Rookie of the Year honors and made him a finalist for the league’s top rookie award, the Jim Piggott Memorial Trophy.

His '23-'24 season was filled with milestones, including three WHL Rookie of the Week honors and selection to the prestigious 2024 CHL Top Prospects Game. He also strung together a 10-game point streak between February and March, racking up 21 points during that stretch.

During his '24-'25 season he debuted on the international stage representing his homeland of Finland at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship, where he helped the team to a silver medal. He contributed a goal and an assist in seven games, including a clutch goal in a dramatic 4–3 overtime win over Team USA.

Miettinen also delivered in the 2025 WHL playoffs, scoring the overtime game-winner in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals against Portland, giving the Silvertips a 2–0 series lead.

Known for his hockey IQ, physicality, and net-front presence, Miettinen plays a mature, reliable two-way game. His ability to dominate in puck battles and create offense under pressure positions him as a high-upside prospect with NHL-ready traits.

On June 1st, the Kraken signed Miettinen's teammate and 2023 draft pick, Kaden Hammell, to a three-year, two-way entry-level contract with a $908,333 AAV. Hammell's signing has left Silvertips fans wondering: will Miettinen be next?
