ST. LOUIS – What appeared to be a normal end to a practice day for the St. Louis Blues took a sudden and unexpected turn.

Philip Broberg needed assistance off the ice after the defenseman slid into the side boards and hobbled off the ice favoring his right leg with the help of trainers.

Blues coach Jim Montgomery didn’t have any update following practice, only saying that, “he’s being evaluated. I’ll have more for you tomorrow.”

It would be a tough break for the Blues (23-21-4), who host the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday in the second half of back-to-back games after the Blues took a 5-4 shootout win Monday in Las Vegas.

If Broberg can’t go and is to miss any time with the lower-body injury, Justin Faulk would likely move up and be paired with Ryan Suter, and Scott Perunovich would come into the lineup and play the right side alongside Tyler Tucker.

Broberg missed 12 games earlier this season with a right knee injury sustained Nov. 2 against the Toronto Maple Leafs when Toronto forward Mitch Marner fell on Broberg’s leg battling for a puck near the boards.

Broberg has 15 points (three goals, 12 assists) in 35 games in his first season with the Blues and is a plus-8.
