During this past off-season, the St. Louis Blues acquired forward Mathieu Joseph and a 2025 third-round pick from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for future considerations. The Senators were looking to free up cap space at that time, so the Blues took the opportunity to bring in a draft pick to take on Joseph's salary.

The Blues were hoping that Joseph would provide them with some solid secondary offensive production last season, but it is fair to say that he struggled during his first year in St. Louis. In 60 games this past season with the Blues, he recorded four goals, 10 assists, and a minus-6 rating.

While Joseph had a tough first season with the Blues, it is fair to argue that he could bounce back in 2025-26 when looking at his past success. Just back in 2023-24 with the Senators, he scored 11 goals and set career highs with 24 assists and 35 points in 72 games. He also posted 12 goals and 30 points in 69 games split between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Senators in 2021-22, so he has shown that he can produce decent numbers when playing at his best.

If Joseph can improve his offensive totals again, it would be great for a Blues club looking to continue to head in the right direction. He certainly has the potential to bounce back in 2025-26, and it will be fascinating to see if he does just that.

Yet, there are still some interesting UFAs available for the taking, and one of them is former St. Louis Blues forward Robby Fabbri.
