The St. Louis Blues' decision to tender an offer sheet to forward Dylan Holloway this past off-season undoubtedly proved to be a great decision. After the Edmonton Oilers elected not to match the Blues' two-year, $4,580,914 offer sheet for Holloway, he broke out in a major way in his first season with St. Louis.

Holloway cemented himself as an incredibly important part of the Blues' top six last season, as he simply thrived. In 77 games with the Central Division club in 2024-25, he recorded new career highs with 26 goals, 37 assists, 63 points, 165 hits, and a plus-21 rating. With this, he not only gave the Blues plenty of offense but also grit. With this, he was a notable reason why the Blues took a step forward in 2024-25.

Now, after Holloway's incredible campaign, the Blues' next move with him is a no-brainer. With Holloway now entering the final season of his contract, he is eligible for a contract extension, and there is no question that the Blues should be working hard to get that done. The pending restricted free agent is precisely the kind of young forward the Blues should be building around, and his next contract should reflect that because of it.

Overall, extending Holloway should be one of the Blues' top objectives moving forward. He has proven to be a fantastic fit for the Blues, and at only 23 years old, the 2020 first-round pick still has time to hit an even higher level.

The Senators were looking to free up cap space at that time, so the Blues took the opportunity to bring in a draft pick to take on Joseph's salary.
