The St. Louis Blues have until 5 p.m. ET to tender qualifying offers to Connor McMichael, Jonatan Berggren, Matthew Kessel, Thomas Bordeleau, Mikhail Abramov, and Leo Loof.
Between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. ET, NHL teams are required to tender qualifying offers to pending RFAs.
Tendering a qualifying offer allows the team to keep control of the player. If a qualifying offer is tendered, the team would receive compensation if the player signs elsewhere, and could match any offer.
The downside to tendering a qualifying offer to a player is that if that offer comes at a high price point, the player can simply agree to that deal.
The St. Louis Blues have six players who require qualifying offers: Connor McMichael, Jonatan Berggren, Matthew Kessel, Thomas Bordeleau, Mikhail Abramov, and Leo Loof.
Both Abramov and Loof will spend the 2026-27 season playing in Europe, but if the Blues want to retain their rights, they will extend qualifying offers of $813,750 and $850,000, respectively.
McMichael’s qualifying offer is set for $2.1 million, but the 25-year-old will likely require a higher cap hit to re-sign. Berggren’s qualifying offer is set at $1.825 million, and there is a chance he is willing to sign at that figure.
Kessel’s and Bordeleau’s QOs are set at $850,000.
If the Blues elect not to hand qualifying offers to any of these players, they will become UFAs on July 1, eligible to sign with any team, while the Blues would not receive any trade compensation.
