Here's the latest on St. Louis Blues captain Brayden Schenn, and the trade talks surrounding him.

During Feb. 6's episode of TSN insider trading, NHL insider Darren Dreger reported that the St. Louis Blues are "at least testing or gauging" Brayden Schenn's trade market

Now, on Feb. 9's episode of Sportsnet's Saturday Headlines, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman provided a new update regarding the Schenn trade talks, noting that St. Louis' asking price for their captain is big.

"Brayden Schenn, his name got out this week," Friedman said. "I've heard the Blues have set a very, very high price on him. The Blues have given an indication that they're willing to talk about a whole lot of their players, but I've heard the price is very, very high on their captain Brayden Schenn."

Given how important of a piece Schenn is, it is entirely understandable that the Blues want a lot for him in any potential deal. The 33-year-old forward is still a very impactful forward for the Blues at this stage of his career, posting 11 goals, 32 points, and 142 hits in 56 games this season.

Schenn is also under contract until the end of the 2027-28 season, so the Blues do not need to rush any move centering around their captain. In addition, he has a complete say over whether or not he will be traded this season, as he has a full no-trade clause. However, that changes to a 15-team no-trade list starting next season.

It will be very intriguing to see what happens with Schenn and the Blues. A trade involving Schenn would undoubtedly spark a new era in St. Louis, as he has been a significant part of their core for eight years.
