Leading up to the 2025 NHL trade deadline, St. Louis Blues captain Brayden Schenn was the subject of trade rumors. However, while the 33-year-old forward generated trade interest, the Blues opted to keep him around. This is a decision that is now benefitting the Blues greatly.
Since the March 7 trade deadline passed, Schenn has posted four goals and seven points over his last seven games. This includes two assists in the Blues' big 4-3 overtime win against the Vancouver Canucks in their last matchup on March 21.
Schenn was already on fire before the deadline, too, as he has 15 points in his previous 15 contests. With numbers like these, he has been a significant reason behind the Blues heating up down the stretch and currently holding the final wild card spot in the Western Conference. The Blues have won seven out of their last 10 games, including each of their last four.
Schenn is undoubtedly playing some of his best hockey of the season, and it could not have come at a better time for the Blues. With his impressive stretch of play, he now has 16 goals and 45 points in 70 games. Clearly, they made the right call keeping him around.
