Canada tops Italy 6-0 to improve to 2-0; hosts back up win over USA with second win in as many days

Dylan Holloway can get used to this international duty.

Making his debut for Canada at the IIHF World Championship in Switzerland, after scoring in his debut over Sweden on Friday, the St. Louis Blues forward scored again and added an assist in a 6-0 romp over Italy at BCF Arena in Fribourg, Switzerland on Saturday.

Holloway, who had four shots on goal and was a plus-2 in 11:37 of ice time Saturday, was credited with the game-winning goal when he was able to knock down a pass from John Tavares (Toronto Maple Leafs) and pop in a shot to give Canada, which beat Sweden 5-3, a 1-0 lead:

Holloway and Tavares would also team up and assist on a late second-period goal by Ryan O'Reilly (Nashville Predators) to make it 6-0.

Blues center Robert Thomas did not factor in the scoring Saturday and had a shot on goal playing 14:36 while centering a line with Winnipeg Jets teammates Mark Scheifele and Gabriel Vilardi.

Canada is off Sunday and next faces Denmark in pool play Monday at 9:20 a.m. (CT).

* Switzerland 4, Latvia 2 -- Pius Suter, who had a goal and an assist in a 3-1 win over USA, did not factor in the scoring on Saturday but played on a Swiss like with Sven Andrighetto and Denis Malgin.

Suter had three shots on goal and played 15:38.
