Over the weekend, the St. Louis Blues re-signed forward Nikita Alexandrov to a one-year, two-way contract. The 24-year-old forward had been a restricted free agent (RFA) before he and the Blues got this new deal finalized.

Now that Alexandrov has signed his new contract, he will certainly be a fascinating player to watch next season. The 2019 second-round pick has been consistently impactful at the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Springfield Thunderbirds.

During this past season with Springfield, Alexandrov certainly impressed, as he recorded 21 goals, 28 assists, and 49 points in 48 games. This was after he had seven points in seven games with the Thunderbirds in 2023-24 and 19 goals and 38 points in 41 contests for the AHL club in 2023-24. With this, he has shown promise offensively down in the AHL. It is now just a matter of him translating this kind of play over to the Blues.

Alexandrov last appeared at the NHL level during the 2023-24 season, where he had two assists in 23 games. This was after he recorded three goals and seven points in 28 games with the Blues during the 2022-23 campaign. We will now need to wait and see if Alexandrov gets more chances on the NHL roster next season from here.

However, when looking at their current roster, it is fair to wonder if they could look to make one last addition before the 2025-26 season is here.
