
St. Louis Blues forward played significant role in getting Swiss off to solid start in tournament played in home country
Pius Suter wanted to get his host country off to a rock-solid start at the IIHF World Championship in his home country.
Mission accomplished for the St. Louis Blues forward, who had a goal and an assist for Switzerland, who defeated Olympic gold medal winner USA, 3-1, on Friday.
Suter got the Swiss off to a good start by scoring in a familiar spot: at the net front on a backhand in the first period:
Suter also got an assist on a first-period goal by Sven Andrighetto for a 2-0 lead.
Suter finished with the two points with one shot on goal and was a plus-1 in 14:39 of ice time.
