St. Louis captain has 27 points in 29 career games against Canadiens, part of group that needs to pick up slack with Thomas out of lineup

No one individual can pick up the slack of what Thomas, who will be reevaluated in six weeks with a fractured right ankle, can bring to the ice, so it will have to be a collective group that need to pick up the slack.
Blues captain Brayden Schenn is our player to watch on Saturday against the Montreal Canadiens (6 p.m.; FDSNMW, ESPN 101.1-FM) and one of those players that can pick up a little bit of the slack.
Schenn, in essence, is filling in Thomas’s spot between Brandon Saad and Jake Neighbours has performed well against the Canadiens with 27 points (10 goals, 27 assists), including one of his four NHL hat tricks in this building of a 4-3 win on Dec. 5, 2017.
Schenn will be on the power play where Thomas plays, he will be killing penalties and taking a lot of the face-offs vacated by Thomas, who was second in the NHL at 62.6 percent when he departed the lineup.
