This former Lightning star has been placed on unconditional waivers.

Former Tampa Bay Lightning forward Tyler Johnson has been placed on unconditional waivers by the Boston Bruins for the purpose of contract termination.

Johnson earned a contract with the Bruins back in November after impressing during his professional tryout (PTO) with the club at training camp. However, the veteran forward struggled to find his fit with the Bruins, posting two assists in nine games. He was also scratched multiple times and had a minus-4 rating in the lone game he played for Boston in December.

Johnson had an excellent nine-year tenure with the Lightning from 2012-13 to 2020-21. In 589 games as a Bolt, he had 161 goals, 200 assists, and 361 points. He also played in 116 post-season games with the Lightning, where he had 32 goals and 65 points. He also won two Stanley Cups with the club.

It will now be fascinating to see where Johnson ends up next from here, but his time as a Bruin is officially over.
