Former Lightning Star Signs With New Team

Former Tampa Bay Lightning forward Tyler Johnson has signed a one-year, $775,000 deal with the Boston Bruins. 

Johnson was signed by the Lightning in 2011 after previously going undrafted. During nine seasons in Tampa Bay, the 12-year veteran had 161 goals and 361 points in 589 games. The Spokane, Washington native also contributed to the Lightning winning back-to-back Stanley Cups in 2020 and 2021.

Following the 2020-21 season, Johnson was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Brent Seabrook's contract. Johnson spent the next three seasons in Chicago, posting 70 points in 149 games. 

Johnson will now play for a Bruins team that has accumulated 13 points in as many games. At the time of this writing, the Bruins are currently in fourth place in the Atlantic Division.
