This Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman could take another step forward with his play in 2024-25.
Darren Raddysh was a big surprise for the Tampa Bay Lightning during the 2023-24 season. After being a depth player for multiple seasons, the 6-foot-1 defender broke out and became a regular on Tampa Bay's blueline.
Raddysh took advantage of his big opportunity, too, as he posted new career highs with six goals, 27 assists, and 33 points in 82 games. With numbers like these, the Toronto, Ontario native showed that he not only belongs in the NHL but also that he can be quite impactful.
Now, Raddysh's goal in 2024-25 will be to build off his breakout season. When noting that this past season was Raddysh's first entire campaign at the NHL level, he undoubtedly has the potential to hit a new level this year.
The Lightning will also give Raddysh the chance to succeed this season. Due to his strong offensive ability from the point, the 28-year-old is already receiving big minutes on the club's power-play unit. It is understandable, as he thrives in this scenario.
In addition, now that Raddysh has an entire NHL season on his resume, he is more adjusted to the league. Before last season, he played in just 21 career NHL games. Thus, we could see his offensive numbers and overall play improve since he is now used to NHL competition.
It will be fascinating to see what kind of season Raddysh has from here, but he should not be ignored.
