This former Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman has suffered a lower-body injury.
Former Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Matt Dumba may need to miss some time. While speaking to reporters, Dallas Stars head coach Pete DeBoer shared that Dumba is currently considered to be day-to-day and will have scans taken on Monday after suffering a lower-body injury against the New York Islanders.
Dumba suffered his lower-body injury during the first period of the Stars' recent contest against the Islanders after being tripped by Casey Cizikas. He played a few more shifts after the play but missed the entire second and third periods.
Dumba, 30, signed a two-year, $7.5 million contract with the Stars this off-season after his brief stint as a rental with the Lightning. He is expected to be an important part of the right side of Dallas' defense, so losing him to injury is not ideal, even with it expected to be a day-to-day issue.
In 18 regular-season games with the Lightning last season, Dumba had two assists and a minus-5 rating. He also appeared in five post-season games with the Bolts, recording zero points and a minus-2 rating.
