The Tampa Bay Lightning secured a big 5-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday night (Oct. 30). With it, they improved to a 7-3-0 record for the season.

While it was a great night for the Lightning, it did have one negative moment. Defenseman Erik Cernak left the matchup early injured after receiving a high hit from Avalanche forward Matt Stienburg.

Stienburg was given a five-minute major and game misconduct for the hit. It is understandable, as he left his feet and made direct contact with Cernak's head.

NHL Player Safety also announced on Thursday (Oct. 31) that Stienburg will have a hearing for the hit.

At this juncture, an update on Cernak's injury has not been provided. Here's to hoping that it is nothing serious, and that he will be good to return shortly.
