The Tampa Bay Lightning are back on the ice tonight to face off against the Anaheim Ducks. The Bolts will look to bounce back after suffering a tough 6-2 loss to the Boston Bruins last game.
This matchup also provides the Lightning a chance to check out some of the Ducks' talent. The Ducks are expected to be sellers this year, so let's look at two players the Lightning should consider targeting from them.
Ryan Strome
The Lightning could use another impactful forward, so a player like Ryan Strome could grab their attention. The 31-year-old is capable of playing both down the middle and on the wing, so he could be a solid addition to the Lightning's middle six if acquired. He also would give them another option for their power play
Strome is having another solid season with the Ducks, posting seven goals and 24 points in 44 games. This is after he had back-to-back 41-point seasons for Anaheim. He would also be more than a rental for the Lightning if acquired, as he has a $5 million cap hit until the end of 2026-27.
Brian Dumoulin
The Lightning's blueline could use a boost, and Brian Dumoulin could give them just that. The 33-year-old is a stay-at-home defenseman who kills penalties and has plenty of post-season experience. He can also play both sides, so he would fit virtually anywhere on the Lightning's blueline.
Dumoulin has nine assists, 45 hits, and 72 blocks in 44 games this season with the Ducks. With the veteran blueliner being in the final season of his deal, he could be a solid rental for the Lightning to add.
