This recent Lightning addition is leaving a good first impression.
Before the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline passed, the Tampa Bay Lightning notably acquired Anthony Duclair from the San Jose Sharks. There was a general expectation that they would look to add a scoring winger before the deadline due to their secondary scoring troubles. As a result, the Duclair addition made sense.
Duclair, 28, had a slow start to the season with the Sharks but was on a real hot streak before the move, posting five goals and three points in his final four games with the club. The hope was that Duclair could keep his hot streak going following his move to Tampa, and he surely has.
Duclair has fit in beautifully in the Lightning's top six and is making a big difference offensively. In his first three games with the club, he has two goals and four points.
During his time with the Florida Panthers, Duclair was an impactful top-six forward, and he is showing that he can still be one as of late. He is thriving playing with star forwards like Steven Stamkos, Nikita Kucherov, Brayden Point, and Brandon Hagel. Now, it will be fun to see if he can maintain his torrid start with the Bolts from here.
