During the Tampa Bay Lightning’s trip to New Jersey, forward Nick Paul scored his 100th career goal against the New Jersey Devils.

Paul scored after the Devils turned the puck over to Scott Sabourin in the neutral zone, a quick pass by Sabourin found Paul and he was able to beat Jacob Markstrom to give the Lightning a 1-0 lead less than three minutes into the first period. Paul’s goal was the first of three that the Lightning would score in the first ten minutes of the first period.

Paul, who began his career with the Ottawa Senators, scored his first goal against the Edmonton Oilers on February 24, 2016 while playing with Ottawa. Since then, he has played 498 career NHL games, 270 of which have been while donning the Lightning’s blue and white.

Paul is also nearing another major milestone, as assuming he remains in the lineup, he’s set to play his 500th career game on Monday when the Lightning host their rival Florida Panthers.

Paul’s 100th career goal also made it the second straight game with a Lightning forward hitting a major milestone, as Jake Guentzel recorded his 600th career point in Tampa Bay’s previous outing against the Montreal Canadiens.
