During the Tampa Bay Lightning’s visit to the Centre Bell to face the Montreal Canadiens, forward Jake Guentzel hit a major career milestone.
Guentzel, who joined the Lightning during the summer of 2024 when he signed a seven-year contract ahead of free agency, registered his 600th career point when he assisted on Brayden Point’s opening goal. Throughout his career, Guentzel recorded the majority of his points with the Pittsburgh Penguins, where he spent the first eight seasons of his NHL career and won his only Stanley Cup to date during the 2016-17 season.
In 503 games with Pittsburgh, he recorded 466 points. He then moved to the Carolina Hurricanes, where he played just 17 games but registered 25 points during that span.
Since joining the Lightning for the 2024-25 season, Guentzel has now played 110 games and has 109 points. He’s hovering around that point-per-game pace, but is falling just short, with .99 points per game. According to Benjamin Pierce, that figure ranks third in Lightning history, and Guentzel has become just the 58th American-born player to cross the 600-point threshold.
This season, the 31-year-old forward has now recorded 29 points in 30 games, 14 of which have been goals.
