This Lightning defenseman is heading back to the AHL.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have announced that defenseman Max Crozier has been re-assigned to their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch.

Crozier, 24, was recalled by the Lightning ahead of their Jan. 18 matchup against the Detroit Red Wings. The right-shot defenseman then made his season debut with Tampa Bay against the Red Wings, where he had zero points, three blocks, four hits, and a plus-1 rating. Overall, the Calgary, Alberta native filled in nicely during his brief call-up.

Crozier heading back to the Crunch could indicate that Lightning defenseman Erik Cernak is nearing a return.

In 14 career NHL games, Crozier has two assists, 20 hits, seven penalty minutes, and a minus-1 rating.
