According to PuckPedia, the Tampa Bay Lightning have signed goalie Ryan Fanti to a one-year NHL contract. Fanti will carry a $775,000 cap hit at the NHL level and make $80,000 in the minors.
Fanti, 25, spent most of this season in the ECHL with the Orlando Solar Bears, posting an 18-13-5 record, a .907 save percentage, and one shutout. He also appeared in seven games with the Lightning's AHL affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch, recording a 3-1-0 record, a .946 save percentage, and a 1.45 goals-against average.
Fanti certainly impressed this season, and it has now helped him land this NHL deal with the Lightning. With this, he will provide Tampa Bay with more goalie depth moving forward.
After Fanti completed his two-year collegiate stint with the University of Minnesota-Duluth, he signed an entry-level contract with the Edmonton Oilers during the 2021-22 season. He spent his time with the Oilers organization in the minors before being let go by the club in 2024.
Overall, there is no harm in the Lightning signing Fanti to this new contract. He will provide them with another solid option between the pipes from the Crunch and has the potential to improve further.
