The Tampa Bay Lightning are not necessarily known for possessing the deepest of prospect pools at this juncture. However, it is understandable, as they have been contenders for several seasons and have parted ways with many draft picks to acquire immediate talent.

However, a recently acquired Lightning prospect, Conor Geekie, has officially been ranked among the NHL's best. In a recent article for The Athletic, Scott Wheeler ranked the Top 100 drafted NHL prospects, and Geekie made the cut, securing the No. 74 spot.

When considering how well Geekie has performed at the junior level, it is understandable that he is viewed among the sport's top prospects. The 2022 first-round pick had a spectacular 2023-24 season split between the Wenatchee Wild and Swift Current Broncos of the WHL, posting 43 goals and 99 points in just 55 games.

However, besides being a talented offensive player, Geekie is also 6-foot-4 and is not particularly afraid of the physical side of the game. Because of this, he could be a real difference-maker in the Lightning's lineup in the not-so-distant future.

While it certainly stung to see the Lightning trade star defender Mikhail Sergachev to Utah earlier this offseason, Geekie should create plenty of optimism among Bolts fans. He has the skill and size to become an impactful forward for the club, and it will be a blast to see what he can do once he gets to the NHL.
